How Antioxidants work in our Toothpaste

Our toothpaste is packed full of antioxidants for their benefits in combating oxidative stress and reducing inflammation of the gums, however, here are other ways that our antioxidant toothpaste will help your dental health;

  1. Gum Health:  help reduce inflammation and protect gum tissues from damage caused by free radicals.
  2. Neutralizing Free Radicals: Free radicals in the mouth can contribute to oral health issues. Our Brightening Antioxidant toothpaste will help by neutralising these free radicals, reducing their potential to cause damage to the gums and other oral tissues.
  3. Preventing Disease: Some studies suggest that antioxidants may help prevent certain oral diseases by supporting the body’s natural defense mechanisms against harmful bacteria and inflammation.
  4. Enhancing Overall Oral Health: By incorporating such a high content of antioxidants in our toothpaste it will provide additional benefits beyond basic cleaning.  Combating gum issues, fighting cavities and gum disease.

Our toothpaste contains cavity busting Cranberry extract, an ingredient that has gained attention in dental care due to it’s benefits in enhancing good oral health.

The compounds found in cranberries, particularly proanthocyanidins (PACs), are believed to offer several advantages in dental care:

  1. Preventing Bacterial Adhesion: Cranberry extract contains PACs that interfere with the ability of certain bacteria, like Streptococcus mutans, to adhere to the surfaces of teeth and gums. This interference can help reduce the formation of dental plaque, which is a primary factor in tooth decay and gum disease.
  2. Reducing Plaque Formation: The anti-adhesive properties of cranberry extract could inhibit the formation of plaque on teeth. Plaque buildup can lead to cavities and gum disease if not properly managed.
  3. Combating Gum Disease: Some studies suggest that cranberry extract has anti-inflammatory properties that benefit gum health. It should help reduce inflammation in the gums, potentially aiding in the prevention of gingivitis and periodontal disease.
  4. Natural Antioxidant Properties: Cranberries are rich in antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals in the mouth.

While research on the effectiveness of cranberry extract in dental care is ongoing, incorporating cranberry-derived products or extracts in oral care products like toothpaste or mouthwash will offer additional benefits in maintaining oral hygiene. I would be remiss if I didn’t note that that cranberry extract alone should not replace regular oral hygiene practices such as brushing, flossing, and professional dental cleanings.

Combined with charcoal, kaolin clay, aloe vera leaf juice, coconut oil, peppermint and tea tree, our Brightening Antioxidant packs a  natural and organic punch against gum disease, tooth decay and cavities, especially when used alongside our floss, tongue cleaner and with one of our toothbrushes, either manual or electric depending on your preference.
